The West Michigan Shoreline Regional Development Commission and the Muskegon Lake Watershed Partnership (MLWP) completed a large-scale fish and wildlife improvement project to restore habitat along the Lake's shoreline and stream corridors. In partnership with the Muskegon River Watershed Assembly, GVSU-Annis Water Resources Institute, Timberland Area Council and Muskegon Community College, scientific information and community values are being combined to set restoration targets.
The NOAA ARRA project restored more than 30 acres of wetland and 13,000 feet of shoreline habitat around Muskegon Lake, as illustrated in the map, above.
