Restoration Projects
Working cooperatively for the remediation, restoration and revitalization of the Muskegon Lake Watershed ecosystem

Monthly Public Meetings are held to inform the public about restoration projects and to receive input on watershed priorities. Meetings are held at Grand Valley State University Annis Water Resources Institute, West Michigan Shoreline Regional Development Commission and other watershed locations.

The Muskegon Lake Action Plan guides the work of the MLWP volunteers and project partners. Implementation progress is discussed at monthly public meetings. The plan will be updated every five years. One of the plan’s major goals is to advance management actions needed to remove Muskegon Lake from the list of Great Lakes Areas of Concern.
Management Actions are scheduled to be complete by the end of 2021.
The MLWP and its partners host an annual, spring volunteer cleanup and other hands-on stewardship events throughout the year to care for natural resources, water quality, native plantings and fish and wildlife habitat.
Our 2022 spring Cleanup will be Sunday, April 24, 8 am – Noon

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), in partnership with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) presents the 2021 Areas of Concern (AOC) Conference. This year’s conference will be held May 24-26, 2022, in Muskegon, Michigan, at the Lakeshore Convention Center, with several pre-conference activities on May 24. LEARN MORE HERE
